XHIOV & LXHIOV Cable Specification

These MV cables are designed for power transmission and distribution, supporting both grid networks and industrial equipment. They are suitable for both direct burial and installation in air. The PVC outer sheathing is flame retardant to IEC 60332-1-2 as well as being UV resistant, so the cables can be installed both internally as well as externally.

The XLPE insulation provides for a +90℃ operating temperature. Where additional protection from water ingress is required, perhaps as a result of sitting in waterlogged ducts, single (be) and dual (cbe) layers of waterblocking tape and yarns can be included in the construction.

These cables are manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502-2, the international standard for medium voltage cables, and in accordance with HD620 standard, but are referenced using Portuguese designations. The XHIOV & LXHIOV cables are also available with copper tape screening (XHIV) and with additional mechanical protection from aluminium or steel wire armouring (XHIORV). PE sheathing equivalent cables including the XHIOE & LXHIOE are also available within the range.

XHIV and LXHIV Cables

These Portuguese referenced Medium Voltage cables for power transmission and distribution are manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502-2 and with standard HD620. They are part of a wider portfolio of Portuguese MV cables, and full support in specification can be provided both in English or in Portuguese as required.

XHIV and LXHIV Cable Specification

Both the LXHIV and XHIV are XLPE insulated and sheathed with PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). It provides a +90oC operating temperature and a robust outer sheathing. These cables also have a copper tape screen. The LXHIV aluminium cables will offer a lighter alternative to the Copper XHIV cables, but at the expense of overall diameter sizing, so are considered suitable where no space constraints exist. 
Both cables can be buried direct or installed in cable ducts, in line with national regulations.
The LXHIV and XHIV cables are alternatively offered with Polyethylene PE sheathing, where the cable reference is LXHIE and XHIE, as well as with varying constructions including copper wire screens (LXHIOV/XHIOV) and with armour for additional mechanical protection.

Our XHIV (copper conductor) and LXHIV (aluminium conductor) cables are available in a range of voltages. These include 6/10kV, 8.7/15kV, 12/20kV and 18/30kV, to support a wide range of power applications and installations. Cables are provided as single cores or three-cores.
